Pulse Routine: Peroneal Tendonitis

Local vibration therapy is often used as an adjunct to physical therapy for peroneal tendonitis. It's believed to help by increasing blood flow and reducing pain. Here's how to use the Pulse Device alongside peroneal tendonitis rehab.

For placements:

Firstly, try placing the devices on opposite sides of the painful area, so the vibrational current flows through it. Place them around the area where pain is felt, such as on the outside of the ankle or calf. If that doesn’t work well, try placing the devices directly on the area where you’re dealing with pain.

Secondly, here's another potential placement if the above doesn't work well.
Locate the fibular head: Find the bony bump on the outside of your knee.
Position the top device: Place a device with its top edge near or on the fibular head.
Place the bottom device: Position the second electrode 2 to 3 inches below the first one on the outside of the leg. Alternatively, you can place it along the lateral malleolus (the outer ankle bone) or in the arch area.
Adjust for comfort: Move devices as needed to find a comfortable placement.

Here are some example diagrams below.

For settings:

You will want to try all 3 of the following settings to see what works best for you. All of these settings operate at frequencies that help improve blood circulation, reduce inflammation, and provide relief, but everyone’s bodies are different so you'll want to see how your body reacts to each one. Try each setting on a different day so that you can properly assess.

  • Warm-up Type 1 - use for improving blood circulation and reducing inflammation while stretching or doing light exercises.
  • Warm-up Type 2 - use for improving blood circulation and reducing inflammation while resting.
  • Rehab -> Sensory Feedback & Tissue Health - use for better sensory feedback and circulation while resting or moving.
  • Recovery Type 2 - use for alleviating harsh pain or tension.
  • Recovery Type 3 - use for alleviating harsh stiffness.

You’ll want to wear it intermittently, sweet spot being around 30 minutes per session. Recommended use time depends on the specific setting though which can be found directly within each setting page on our app.
