Using the Pulse Device on the Wrist to Improve General Quality of Life
Overview
Localized vibration therapy has gained traction for its potential to improve motor function, alleviate stiffness, reduce stress, improve focus, and enhance overall wellbeing in individuals with neurological conditions. This guide explains how to use the Pulse Device on the wrist to improve general quality of life for general wellness applications.
Why the Wrist?
Pulsating vibrations on the wrist act as a tactile sensation that helps distract the brain, freeing it up to regulate everyday tasks. Here are some of the benefits:
• Stimulate proprioceptive feedback, improving awareness of position and movement.
• Reduce perceived stiffness and discomfort in the forearm and hand.
• Support smoother, more controlled movements, potentially improving quality of life.
• Promote relaxation, calmness, and focus in general everyday life.
Recommended Settings
Warm-up Type 2: Great for relaxation and stiffness relief.
Rehab -> Motor Function -> General: Often associated with enhanced proprioceptive feedback and motor function support.
Recovery Type 2: Can promote alertness and increase sensory input for improved control.
Tip: Start with the warm-up settings and gradually explore higher frequency recovery settings to find what feels best.
Pulse Device Placement
1. Device Position: While you can wear it on either wrist, it's suggested to experiment with both to see which placement works best for you and your body. For those using it for specific conditions like stress or anxiety, it is recommended to wear it on the wrist that feels most comfortable. If you're using it to address a specific affected side of the body, wearing it on the opposite wrist is suggested are two placements that we recommend trying. The first and most prominent placement we suggest trying is placing it like a wristwatch on the top of your wrist. The second placement we suggest trying is on the inside of the wrist (palmar side), just below the crease where the hand meets the forearm.
2. Securing the Device: Use the provided adjustable strap or adhesive to secure it snugly but not tightly. Ensure the device is stable during vibration but does not restrict blood flow.
Protocol
Warm-Up (Optional): 2 minutes using the Warm-up Type 2 – light stimulation to prepare tissue and enhance circulation.
Main Session: 10 minutes per wrist using the Rehab -> Motor Function -> General – improves proprioceptive feedback and ease of movement.
Cool Down (Optional): 2 minutes at Warm-up Type 2 – promotes relaxation and reduces residual tightness.
Suggested Use: 1–2 sessions per day, or before tasks that require fine motor control. Start with low intensities and adjust based on comfort. We suggest starting with 5-10% intensities (the far left side of the intensity slider) where you can barely feel the vibration, but you can hear a slight buzzing sound.
Important Notes
• If you experience discomfort, numbness, or tingling, stop and adjust placement or intensity.
• Consult with your healthcare provider before starting any new therapeutic routine, especially with significant cardiovascular or neurological conditions.
